FORMER England Test star Derek Randall drew stumps on Dorchester Cricket Club's 150 not out celebrations at a dinner at the town's King's Arms Hotel which rounded off their anniversary year.

The ex-Nottinghamshire batsman and brilliant fielder entertained 118 past and present players and guests with hilarious tales of his exploits both on and off the field during his long career in Test and county cricket.

Then he presented awards to Dorchester players who were successful with bat and ball in the club's 150th season.

Adam Rendell took the batting award for the club's first team with Simon Talbot the top bowler.

The second team's leading batsman was Colin Edney and Pete Tucker received the bowling trophy.

Fifteen-year-old Lloyd Mitchem was the Casuals' leading bowler and their batting award went to Pete Moxom whose 143 not out in the Dorset League One game against Swanage also earned him the prize for the outstanding individual performance of the season.

All-rounder of the year was batsman-wicketkeeper Lee Ames and Simon Joslin was named Clubman of the Year.

There were also an award of honorary life presidency for Doug Read and Steve Barrett was granted honorary life membership of the county town club.

First team skipper Mark Derrien thanked all the sponsors and praised everyone who had worked to make the club's 150th anniversary celebrations such a resounding success.

"With all the youngsters now coming through I am sure this club can look forward to a bright future and will continue to go from strength to strength," he said.

A draw and an auction of cricket memorabilia showed a profit of £700. The items auctioned included a signed England v Sri Lanka One-Day bat donated by the Cheltenham and Gloucester Building Society, an autographed Somerset bat donated by Dorchester Rotarians and an England Ladies' bat. Signed Somerset and Dorset CC shorts were also auctioned.
