PRINCE William's bodyguards will shadow the second-in-line to the throne when he comes to Purbeck next year to train in armoured warfare.

The 24-year-old has announced he will follow his brother Prince Harry into the Household Cavalry's Blues and Royals regiment when he graduates from Sandhurst next year.

Military sources refused to say whether security at Bovington Camp would be tightened when Prince William starts specialist training as a troop leader in an armoured reconnaissance unit.

But they confirmed that officers from the Royal Protection Squad would accompany the prince during the training course, which his younger sibling is due to finish soon.

An Army spokesman said: "Security at the camp is extremely good and always has been. We do not anticipate any changes when the prince arrives.

"But he is second-in-line to the throne and because he has royal status he will already have personal security."

At Bovington, Cornet Wales will learn how to operate the Scimitar, which is a fast, tracked, heavily armoured car.
