HOW would you like to help James Bond make dreams come true for local children with life-threatening illnesses?

Bournemouth Round Table is looking for a principal sponsor for its regional charity gala screening of the new 007 film, Quantum of Solace, at Odeon Bournemouth on Thursday October 30.

Having staged a highly successful charity screening of Casino Royale in 2006, Bournemouth Round Table has again been granted permission to host a screening the night before the film goes on general release.

It will be an exclusive black tie event with welcome drinks and an after-party, so there's sure to be plenty of fun as well as some serious fundraising.

With Daniel Craig returning as Bond, the new film picks up the story about an hour after the end of Casino Royale and Vesper Lynd's grisly death. Bond is involved in a car chase in Italy and learns that the sinister Quantum organisation has agents embedded in MI6 and the CIA. He's then lead to Haiti where he teams up with the beautiful Camille (Olga Kurylenko) in search of Dominic Greene (played by Mathieu Amalric), a ruthless businessman and chairman of Greene Planet, the legitimate cover for Quantum.

Greene's evil plan is to overthrow the Bolivian government and install the exiled General Medrano as head of state. In exchange, Medrano will give Greene a barren piece of land which will give him total control of the nation's water supply.

Bond must unravel Greene's plan, staying one step ahead of the CIA, Greene's terrorists and M - whilst trying to keep his desire for retribution over Vesper's death in check.

Proceeds from the gala screening will go to Round Table Childrens Wish, a locally-based charity which grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses, as well as other local charities.

"We are certain that this event will be every bit as successful as the last one we held for Casino Royale and are hoping to raise in excess of £10,000," says Simon Annicchiarico, president of Bournemouth Round Table 5.

  • Tickets are available via members of Bournemouth Round Table 5 and some will also be available from the Round Table Children's Wish offices in Moordown at a cost of £25 each.
