A GUITAR signed by Queen rocker Brian May and a snooker cue belonging to Ronnie O'Sullivan will be auctioned for charity.

Solicitors at Mustoe Shorter are organising a dinner, dance and auction in aid of the Dorset Women's Outreach Project and Cancer Research UK.

Ruth Mills, a partner in the solicitors' firm, has been tapping personal contacts to get the auction items - which may soon include signed photographs of Take That.

She said: "I've written to Gary Barlow myself and I'm just waiting to receive something back.

"But the star of the show is definitely going to be the guitar and it is clearly going to attract a lot of interest from throughout the country.

"I'm told a lot of people have been very interested in that.

"We have also got a signed snooker cue from Ronnie O'Sullivan and a lot of memorabilia from him.

"We're anticipating the Take That photos and that there will be another prize of a day on a film set but we don't know which film yet."

Other auction lots include VIP tickets to Brands Hatch, a bottle of champagne donated by comedian Joe Pasquale and a signed Jeffrey Archer novel.

Tickets for the event, at 7.30pm on Friday, September 28, at the Heights Hotel in Portland, are £30 each.

They are available at the firm's Frederick Place office in Weymouth or by calling 01305 752700. Tickets are also available at the firm's High West Street office in Dorchester or by calling 01305 250900.
