ROWERS broke tradition and piped in a Cornish pasty rather than a haggis at a fundraising evening.
The idea was devised as a way of marking the start of the rowing season for members of Weymouth Rowing Club.
The club is currently trying to raise enough funds to buy its third, £18,000 gig, which is built to a traditional Cornish design.
Club fundraiser Cathy Maybery said: "This was the idea of one of our club members, Dave Ferris.
"We decided to call it the Jethro night and another club member, Jock Fraser, actually piped the pasty in."
She added that the club has already secured a £10,000 'awards for all' grant towards the cost of the new gig.
The club has also raised a further £1,000, including money raised at the Jethro night event.
